Three people were shot in separate incidents across the city Monday evening.

ST. LOUIS — Homicide investigations are underway after two men were shot and killed Monday evening in St. Louis.

The men were among three people who were shot in separate incidents across the city Monday evening.

The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department said officers responded at 8:30 p.m. to the shooting on the 4400 block of Elmbank Avenue in St. Louis' Greater Ville neighborhood. First responders found a 21-year-old man who had been shot multiple times. He was unconscious and not breathing. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Homicide investigators were called to the scene. Nearly a dozen evidence markers littered the street near the scene.

Police identified the victim as Simeon Diaz. His family created a GoFundMe campaign to help cover his funeral costs.

At about 9 p.m., there was a separate shooting near Hamilton and Cote Brillante avenues. A 27-year-old man arrived at the hospital with a gunshot wound to his abdomen. Police said the man died at the hospital due to his injuries.

He was identified as Daniel Hughes.

At about 9:55 p.m., a 26-year-old woman was shot in the thigh leg at Carter and Marcus avenues. She was conscious and breathing when taken to an area hospital.

Preliminary information revealed the woman was walking south on Marcus with a 28-year-old man when they saw two vehicles following each other and heard gunshots. They began to run when the woman felt pain in her leg, and the pair ran to an alley before contacting the police.

Investigations are underway.

Police asked anyone with information about the deadly shootings to contact the Homicide Division at 314-444-5371. To remain anonymous, contact CrimeStoppers at 866-371-TIPS (8477).
