ST. LOUIS — One person was shot and killed following a domestic disturbance in south St. Louis.
According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, police officers found the victim dead overnight Wednesday in the 3200 block of North Dakota Street, located on the edge of the city's Dutchtown neighborhood.
The Homicide Division was requested, police said.
On Thursday, police charged 32-year-old Robyn Simmons with first-degree murder and armed criminal action in connection with the deadly shooting.
According to the probable cause statement, Simmons was helping the witness leave her partner, who was the victim of the deadly shooting. Simmons went to the home the two shared and kicked down the front door because the victim had locked out the witness.
The victim was asleep in an upstairs bedroom, and the witness went up to the bedroom to wake him up and tell him to leave, according to the probable cause statement. A verbal altercation began between the partners. That's when Simmons came in and struck the victim with a gun. While he was on the ground, Simmons shot him in the head.
Simmons left the scene of the shooting but later returned to get the shell casing left behind, the statement said.
Simmons was arrested without bond.
