Major Case Squad searching for vehicle of interest in Iron County homicide

Investigators are searching for a grey-and-black 1991 Chevrolet Silverado with Missouri license plate OPDY90.

MIDDLEBROOK, Mo. — The Mineral Area Major Case Squad launched a homicide investigation after a man was found dead Thursday night in rural Iron County.

Deputies with the Iron County Sheriff's Office found a 65-year-old man who had been killed at a home in the 60 block of Wild Turkey Road in rural Middlebrook, according to the Major Case Squad.

The Major Case Squad identified the victim Friday afternoon as Derl Sharp.

Investigators are searching for a vehicle of interest described as a 1991 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 with Missouri license plate 0PDY90. The pickup is grey and black with a red pinstripe and duct tape on the right rear window.

If you see the vehicle, do not approach it. Its occupants should be considered armed and dangerous, according to the Major Case Squad.

If you see the vehicle or have additional information about the deadly incident, you should call 911 to contact your nearest law enforcement agency or the Iron County 911 Center at 573-431-3131.

More than a dozen investigators were assigned to the ongoing case, the Major Case Squad said.

As of Friday morning, police had not yet shared the identity of the victim.
