CAHOKIA HEIGHTS, Ill — Illinois State Police Division of Criminal Investigation Zone 6 asked for the public's help finding the driver who fled the scene of a deadly pedestrian crash Saturday morning near Cahokia Heights.
According to ISP, the victim was found dead at about 3:20 a.m. Saturday on northbound Interstate 255 at milepost 15. She appeared to have been struck and killed in the middle of the road, and the driver who struck her had fled the scene.
Investigators believe it was a semitruck that hit the victim, according to ISP.
Anyone who was driving in the area at the time of the crash or has any information about the incident was asked to contact Special Agent Donald Cary at 618-666-1827.
Witnesses can remain anonymous, ISP said.
