2 juveniles taken into custody after officer-involved shooting in south St. Louis

A section of Morganford Road was closed between Robert Avenue and Quincy Street for the investigation but has since reopened.

ST. LOUIS — Two juveniles were taken into custody following an officer-involved shooting Tuesday morning in south St. Louis. 

According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, officers responded Tuesday morning to the 7000 block of Morganford Road for a call of two people who were attempting to break into vehicles. 

Officers saw two people matching the description from the call and attempted to stop them. One of the juveniles stopped while the other ran off.

An officer chased after the juvenile and saw they were armed with a firearm, police said. The officer shot at the juvenile but missed.

The juvenile was eventually taken into custody and a firearm was recovered. 

The Force Investigation Unit is investigating. 

No additional information regarding the juveniles or incident has been released.
