ST ANN, Mo. — A man was charged after police said he cut a woman's face with a machete Tuesday during an argument inside their St. Ann home.
According to charging documents, Wesley Clark, 40, was charged with one felony count each of first-degree domestic assault and armed criminal action.
The victim said she told Clark to leave their home during an argument when Clark got angry and refused to leave. She said he then grabbed a machete and pushed the victim onto a couch and threatened her with the machete to her face, saying "I'm going to send you to your grandma," referencing the victim's deceased grandmother.
Clark then cut her face, leaving a 6- to 7-inch scar from her ear to jaw line, police said.
Clark then left the home and the victim called police. Responding officers found Clark in a nearby park sitting on a bench and talking on his cell phone. Police arrested him. He later admitted to being inside the home, holding the machete and cutting the woman's face.
The victim went to a local hospital, where she received stitches.
Police said there have been multiple 911 calls from the home for arguments between the victim and Clark.
A judge set Clark's bond at $100,000 on the condition that he complies with GPS monitoring, has no contact with the victim and stays at least 500 feet away from their home.
He remained in custody at the St. Louis County Jail as of Wednesday.
