Man admits to robbing Maplewood Steak 'n Shake at gunpoint

Frank Brothers could face up to 20 years in prison for the robbery charge and will face at least seven years in prison for the gun charge.

ST. LOUIS — A 30-year-old St. Louis man could face up to 20 years in prison after he pleaded guilty to robbing a Maplewood, Missouri, Steak 'n Shake restaurant in October of 2018.

Frank Brothers pleaded guilty to robbery and possession of a firearm in the furtherance of a crime in federal court Tuesday.

Court documents said Brothers entered the restaurant near the intersection of Manchester Road and Oakland Avenue at around 3 a.m. on Oct. 24, 2018. He pointed the gun at the manager and forced her to open the safe in the back of the store.

After ordering her to lay on the floor of the restaurant, Brothers grabbed cash out of the safe, ran out the back and drove off.

Brothers could face up to 20 years in prison for the robbery charge and will face at least seven years in prison for the gun charge.

His sentencing date was set for Jan. 31, 2020.
