ST. LOUIS COUNTY – A 38-year-old man has been charged with homicide more than a month after a woman was found dead outside of a north city apartment complex with puncture wounds to her torso and buttocks.

Dominic Arrington is charged with first degree murder and armed criminal action.

Court documents state April Fields was found in the 800 block of Rivertrail Court strangled and stabbed.

Police say a surveillance video shows Fields dropping her daughter off at Hilltop Daycare Center in the 6100 block of W. Florissant around 9:30 a.m. A large man with a noticeable limp is then seen getting into the back of her car.

The surveillance video shows Fields returning to her vehicle, getting, in, and then the vehicle rocking. A short time later the man, whom police believe to be Arrington, gets out of the backseat of the vehicle, gets into the driver's seat, and drives away.

Surveillance video at the 5900 block of Goodfellow shows the man parking the vehicle in the parking lot of a laundromat.

When officers seized the vehicle, a coffee cup and cigarette butt were found inside the vehicle. A DNA analysis matched Dominic Arrington's DNA.

Arrington, who also goes by the name Dominic Wilson, was taken into custody and questioned. He told police he was never in Fields' vehicle.

Police say Arrington weighs more than 300 pounds and has a knee injury which causes him to walk with a distinct limp.

In 1995 Arrington was convicted of second-degree murder and was sentenced to 15 years in prison.

Arrington is held without bond.
