WASHINGTON PARK, Ill. — A Belleville, Illinois, man was charged with murder six months after a deadly shooting in Washington Park.
Steven Tiller Jr., 22, was charged with first-degree murder and unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon in connection with the shooting death of 39-year-old George Smith.
The shooting happened on March 29 outside of a business in the 6000 block of Forest Boulevard. The Washington Park Police Department requested help from the Illinois State Police.
According to a news release from the Illinois State Police, ISP agents identified Tiller as a suspect in the shooting. He was taken into custody on Oct. 11.

The Bullet Related Injury Clinic (BRIC) is a community-based clinic in St. Louis that helps people heal after they have been injured by a bullet. The BRIC was established to help people who are discharged from the emergency department after being shot.
