ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. — A St. Louis County man is facing multiple charges after police said he shot and critically injured a man while driving on Halls Ferry Road.
Michael Morrison, 51, was charged with first-degree assault and multiple gun charges in connection with the May 14 shooting.
According to a probable cause statement, the shooting happened at about 8 a.m. on Halls Ferry Road near Empire Drive. The victim told police he was driving alongside a white Chevrolet Silverado in a construction zone when the driver of the Silverado shot at him.
The victim was taken to the hospital where he underwent life-saving surgery for a gunshot wound to his upper body.
During the investigation, police said they got the license plate number for the truck and tracked it to a home on Brookshire Drive in Florissant. Officers got a search warrant for the home and found three guns inside. One of the guns had the same caliber as the shell casings police found at the scene of the shooting.
They took Morrison into custody, and the victim identified him in a police lineup.
After he was read his Miranda rights in an interview with police, Morrison said he was the only person who had driven the truck near or at the time of the shooting.
Morrison was charged with first-degree assault, unlawful use of a weapon, unlawful possession of a firearm and two counts of armed criminal action in connection with the shooting. He is being held on a $500,000, cash-only bond.
