Preston Q. Young, a man with previous felonies, was charged with home invasion while armed and robbery as well as other charges for an alleged crime spree that spanned three months.

ST. CLAIR COUNTY, Ill. – A 23-year-old East St. Louis man was charged Thursday after police said he was involved in three separate incidents, including a January robbery on a MetroLink train.

Preston Q. Young, a man with previous felonies, was charged with home invasion while armed and robbery as well as other charges for an alleged crime spree that spanned three months.

Charging documents accused Young of committing a home invasion and robbery of an elderly man on Jan. 12. Then, on Jan. 24, he committed a strong arm robbery on the MetroLink near the Fairview Heights station, according to charging documents.

Charging documents said his final robbery was on March 10, when he committed an armed robbery in Washington Park. The St. Clair County Sheriff's Department said he was shot during that robbery, which gave police a break in the case.

In all, he was charged with home invasion while armed, attempted armed robbery, robbery, aggravated battery and felon in possession of a firearm. His bond was set at $145,000.
