Man critically injured after shooting in St. Louis' Dutchtown neighborhood

A 42-year-old man was transported to an area hospital where he is listed in critical condition.

ST. LOUIS — A 42-year-old man was critically injured after a robbery ended in a shooting in south St. Louis early Saturday morning, police said. 

According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, officers were called to a shooting around 1 a.m. in the 3800 block of Neosho Street. 

Witnesses told police that two men wearing ski masks entered the backyard of a residence while several people were gathered there. According to the police report, one of the suspects had two guns and they announced a robbery. 

Police said that one of the suspects began to go through pockets while the armed suspect stood behind the 42-year-old man, pointing the gun at him.

At some point during the incident, a shot was fired and the man was struck, police said. Both suspects fled on foot.

The man was transported to an area hospital where he is listed in critical condition.

No further information was released regarding the incident. The investigation is ongoing.
