Man, dog shot during argument over car Wednesday in north St. Louis

Bullets struck the man in the leg and the dog in the paw, police said.

ST. LOUIS — A man and a dog were hospitalized with bullet-related injuries after an argument turned violent early Wednesday morning in north St. Louis.

According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, officers responded at about 5:20 a.m. Wednesday to the report of a person shot in the 5300 block of Labadie Avenue, located in the city's Kingsway West neighborhood. There, officers found a man who had been shot in the leg and a dog who had been shot in the paw.

Police said two men were in an argument over a car at about 5 a.m. when one of the men pulled out a gun and fired shots, striking the victim and the victim's relative's dog.

The man was taken to an area hospital, and the dog was taken to a veterinarian hospital for treatment, police said.

The investigation remained ongoing as of Wednesday afternoon.
