Man fatally shot in north St. Louis

St. Louis police said the man was not conscious or breathing when officers arrived.

ST. LOUIS — A man was fatally shot in north St. Louis Thursday afternoon.

The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department said the shooting happened just before 6 p.m. in the 3900 block of N. 11th Street near Interstate 70 in St. Louis' Hyde Park neighborhood. 

Responding officers found the victim in the street with a gunshot wound in the upper chest and left arm. He was unconscious and not breathing when they found him. St. Louis paramedics pronounced the victim dead at the scene. 

St. Louis police's Homicide Division was requested. They are conducting an ongoing investigation.

There was no further information provided regarding the nature of the incident.
