Man dead after shooting in Jeff-Vander-Lou neighborhood

Police responded to a shooting shortly after 5:15 p.m. at the intersection of Glasgow Avenue and Gamble Street.

ST. LOUIS — Police are investigating a fatal shooting Tuesday in St. Louis' Jeff-Vander-Lou neighborhood. 

Officers from the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department were patrolling the area of Dr. Martin Luther King Drive and Glasgow Avenue when they heard several gunshots.

They responded shortly after 5 p.m. and found a scene in the 2800 block of Gamble Street near Norman Seay Park.

Officers found Patrik' James, 33, lying in the street and suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene. 

A man in his 30s fled the area when officers arrived. He was last seen wearing a white t-shirt and blue jeans, police said.

Cure Violence is an international organization that is present in a handful of St. Louis neighborhoods. Violence interrupters are trained to deescalate violent situations within their own communities.
