Man fatally shot Sunday night in St. Louis' Tower Grove South neighborhood

A 28-year-old man was shot late Sunday night outside of St. Pius V Catholic Church. He later died at an area hospital.

ST. LOUIS — A shooting in St. Louis' Tower Grove South neighborhood left a man dead late Sunday night.

According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, officers were called at about 11:45 p.m. Sunday to a shooting at South Grand Boulevard and Utah Street, near St. Pius V Catholic Church and the St. Louis Public Library - Carpenter Branch. There, police found 28-year-old Maurice Walker of St. Louis with bullet-related injuries and unable to tell police what happened due to his condition.

The Walker was taken to an area hospital where he later died as a result of his injuries, police said.

The Homicide Division assumed the ongoing investigation.

As of Monday morning, police had not yet shared what led up to the shooting or whether any arrests had been made.

The Bullet Related Injury Clinic (BRIC) is a community-based clinic in St. Louis that helps people heal after they have been injured by a bullet. The BRIC was established to help people who are discharged from the emergency department after being shot.
