ST. LOUIS — Police said a man with gunshot wounds was found in the back of a car that had been reported stolen Saturday morning. Two men were also arrested in connection with the incident.

Detectives with the Anti-Crime Task Force were tracking a white Acura ILX just after midnight Saturday. The car had previously been reported stolen, police said.

The driver parked the car on the 300 block of north 22nd Street and two men exited the vehicle, armed with handguns, police said.

Police said the two men fled on foot as they were approached by detectives. Detectives pursued them and arrested a 24-year-old man and a 19-year-old man. Detectives said they recovered a Glock pistol and a pistol grip American Tactical AR15.

Detectives approached the car again and found a 23-year-old man with gunshot wounds attempting to exit the backseat of the car.

The wounded man was transported to the hospital, where he was in critical but stable condition.

A third gun was recovered from the car. Detectives also reported bullet holes on the driver's side of the car.

This is a developing story.
