ST. LOUIS — A St. Louis man will spend the next 10 years in prison for his role in a scheme to deal large amounts of fentanyl that was discovered by the DEA in 2017.
Walter D. Justiniano was sentenced to 120 months in prison for conspiracy to distribute and possession with the intent to distribute more than 400 grams of fentanyl.
Justiniano was one of nine people arrested in the initial drug bust back in June of 2017. According to the 2017 indictment from the U.S. District Court of Eastern Missouri, seven people were indicted on Fentanyl-related charges and two people were indicted on Cocaine-related charges after the bust on April 28.
The investigation discovered that large amounts of drugs were coming from Los Angeles, and Justiniano intended to distribute the drugs once they arrived.
Investigators followed Justiniano and two others to a storage locker in Florissant, Missouri, on April 27, 2017, where they saw Justiniano and another man carrying bags out of the storage locker. They followed the suspects and eventually arrested them. They discovered the bags had 27 heat-sealed packages containing more than 25 kilograms of Fentanyl.
The case was investigated by the DEA and the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department.
