Man killed in north St. Louis shooting, police say

The shooting happened around 1:45 a.m. in the 5000 block of Ruskin Avenue, a few blocks north of Kingshighway Boulevard and east of I-70, police said.

ST. LOUIS — A man was killed in a north St. Louis shooting early Saturday morning, according to a brief statement from the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department.

The shooting happened around 1:45 a.m. in the 5000 block of Ruskin Avenue, a few blocks north of Kingshighway Boulevard and east of I-70, police said. That places the shooting in St. Louis's Mark Twain neighborhood.

Officers with SLMPD's 6th District were dispatched to the scene in response to reports of a shooting in that area. Detectives with SLMPD's Homicide Division have been requested. 

More information may be forthcoming further into the investigation. This story will be updated with the latest information as it becomes available.

The Bullet Related Injury Clinic (BRIC) is a community-based clinic in St. Louis that helps people heal after they have been injured by a bullet. The BRIC was established to help people who are discharged home from the emergency department after being shot.
