ST. LOUIS — A St. Louis man is expected to spend 20 years in prison after pleading guilty to federal charges in the drug-related death of another man.
Federal prosecutors say 22-year-old Armond Calvin pleaded guilty Monday to one count of using a firearm to commit murder in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime. The U.S. Attorney's office in St. Louis said that as part of the plea, Calvin agreed to a recommended 20-year sentence.
The plea agreement says Calvin was a member of a violent drug trafficking organization that distributed fentanyl and other drugs in the St. Louis area.
On Dec. 3, 2016, Calvin and others in his organization tracked down a rival dealer's vehicle. Federal authorities say Calvin opened fire, striking and killing a man in the backseat, David Leslie Bryant III.
A hat that fell from Calvin's head during the shooting provided DNA evidence that helped lead to his arrest.
