Dewight Price, a driver for St. Louis County Cab, was fatally shot on April 24, 2022. He was a father of four.

HAZELWOOD, Mo. — A man pleaded guilty Tuesday in connection to a 2022 robbery and fatal shooting of a taxi driver found in the parking lot of Hazelwood Central High School.

Tywon Harris, 20, pleaded guilty to aiding and abetting in the commission of a murder in connection to the fatal shooting of Dewight Price, a driver for St. Louis County Cab, on April 24, 2022.

Harris and three other teens left a party in downtown St. Louis and called a cab at about 5:30 a.m. at the Shell gas station on North Tucker Boulevard, a plea agreement said. The group used a fake name and planned to run away without paying when they were dropped off at their destination. However, when they learned they would have to prepay for their ride, they came up with a plan to pay and then rob the driver.

The plea agreement said Harris instigated the robbery and all four admitted involvement in robbing Price.

The group rerouted Price to Hazelwood Central High School, thinking there would be no witnesses. When they arrived, two of the teens pulled out their guns and demanded cash from Price. Price handed over the cash, grabbed a gun he kept in his door and began getting out of the cab.

One of the teens in the backseat opened his door and knocked Price to the ground, and another shot him in the torso. Price died before police got to the scene.

Coron Dees, 20, pleaded guilty in April 2023 to a robbery charge. Jeremiah Allen, 20, and Trishawn Jones, also pleaded guilty in August to the same robbery charge. Jones pleaded guilty to one count of aiding and abetting in the commission of a murder.

Harris is scheduled to be sentenced in July.
