Man riding bike robbed in Downtown West Thursday morning

The man asked him for a cigarette and then suddenly put his hands into the hood of his hooded sweatshirt, said he had a gun and demanded his property.

ST. LOUIS — An investigation is underway after a man was robbed at gunpoint while riding his bike in St. Louis’ Downtown West neighborhood.

Police responded to the 400 block of S. 14th Street where they found a 45-year-old man who said he was riding his bike on 14th Street near the Interstate 64 exit ramp when he was stopped by a man.

The man asked him for a cigarette and then suddenly put his hands into the hood of his hooded sweatshirt, said he had a gun and demanded his property.

The robber took the victim’s money and bus passes and then left the scene. The victim was not injured.
