Man shot in neck in attempted carjacking near Forest Park Golf Course

Shortly after midnight, police said the man was inside of his parked car when a suspect had approached him and shot him in the neck before running away.

ST. LOUIS — A man was shot near Forest Park Golf Course early Tuesday morning after someone had reportedly approached him while his car was parked.

Shortly after midnight, police said the man was inside of his parked car at the corner of Rosebury Avenue and Skinker Boulevard when a suspect had approached him and shot him in the neck before running away.

According to police, the driver was believed to have then stepped out of his car while it was still in drive, causing the car to veer off across the street near Forest Park Golf Course.

The road was closed to traffic at Clayton Road and Skinker Boulevard as a result of the shooting.

The suspect in the crime remains unidentified.

This is the latest carjacking incident in the St. Louis area.

Early Tuesday morning, two women said armed men took their luxury SUV right inside the driver’s home garage in St. Charles County.

Over the course of a week, two carjackings happened a block away in Dogtown. The first happened Saturday, September 8 in the 1500 block of Tamm Avenue. The second happened Saturday, September 15 in the 1400 block of Gregg Avenue.

Also, in north St. Louis County, four people were carjacked late Sunday night Police throughout the county responded the four separate carjackings between 11 p.m. Sunday and midnight, including one at a carwash near the corner of West Florissant Avenue and Chambers Road in Ferguson.
