Man shot, killed Sunday evening in north St. Louis County

Police said the man was found shot to death inside a vehicle that had crashed into a tree.

MOLINE ACRES, Mo. — A man was shot and killed Sunday evening in north St. Louis County. 

According to the St. Louis County Police Department, officers with the Moline Acres Police Department responded shortly after 6:30 p.m. for a ShotSpotter activation in the 9900 block of Lanier Drive. 

Officers located a man who had been shot inside a vehicle, which had crashed into a tree, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene. 

Police on Tuesday identified the victim as 29-year-old Tremain Purnell of St. Louis.

Moline Acres police requested St. Louis County police to investigate.

No further information was released regarding the incident.
