De Soto man sues woman accused of killing her children

The man is seeking a $3 million judgment against Ashley Parmeley, who has been accused of shooting and killing their 9-year-old daughter and another boy in May.
A 36-year-old woman was charged after police said she admitted to fatally shooting one of her children and drowning another. Police have not released a motive.

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Mo. — Jason Daugherty of De Soto is suing his child’s mother, Ashley Parmeley, who is facing felony charges for allegedly killing their daughter and another boy in May.

Daugherty filed the lawsuit on Nov. 5 in the Jefferson County Circuit Court and is representing himself in the lawsuit, according to court documents.

He is seeking a $3 million judgment against Parmeley, 37, of Pevely, who has been accused of shooting and killing their 9-year-old daughter, Scarlet Ahnahleigh Parmeley-Daugherty. She also was charged for allegedly killing her 2-year-old son, Isaac James Baum.

Daugherty is not Baum’s father.

The Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office has charged Parmeley with two counts of first-degree murder, each one a class A felony, and one count of armed criminal action, an unclassified felony.

Ashley Parmeley has been held at the Jefferson County Jail in Hillsboro without bond since May 28, court documents show.
