ST. LOUIS — A man was taken into custody late Wednesday night after a chase that Illinois State Police said started in East St. Louis.
According to the ISP, troopers were called to a Mobil gas station on the 8300 block of State Street for a report of a shooting. Shortly after the shooting, troopers spotted a car they said was involved in the incident.
Police attempted to pull the car over, but the driver sped away. Troopers continued to chase the vehicle across the Poplar Street Bridge and into St. Louis. The chase ended when the driver crashed at the intersection of 9th and Clark streets.
Illinois State Police said the driver continued to resist after the crash, but he was eventually taken into custody. Police said the driver was injured, but the injuries were not considered life-threatening.
