UNIVERSITY CITY, Mo. — Two people were charged after police said a woman was fatally shot through her apartment door during a robbery attempt in University City.

Prosecutors charged Carlione Boyd, 20, and Terrell McCann Jr., 22, with second-degree murder and first-degree attempted robbery.

The victim was identified as 39-year-old Ashleigh Selmon. McCann was also paralyzed during the shooting, police said.

The shooting happened Sunday on the 6400 block of North Drive. According to a probable cause statement, Selmon's son was working on a car in the parking lot when McCann and Boyd approached and put a gun to his head. The victim was able to grab the gun from Boyd and fired shots at the pair while running toward his home.

McCann was struck and paralyzed but continued to fire shots at Selmon's son as he ran away, striking Selmon through her apartment door, police said.

Her son came inside to find his mother lying on the floor with a gunshot wound. Selmon was pronounced dead at the scene.

The shooting was captured on surveillance video.

McCann and Boyd's bond was set at $500,000.
