A pork steak dispute resulted in a deadly shooting.
John Cunningham was found guilty in a pork steak dispute that turned deadly.

St. Louis, MO (KSDK) - A deadly shooting between two men in north St. Louis in 2012 has resulted in a guilty verdict against the nephew of the man killed.

Jurors in St. Louis Circuit Court deliberated for more than seven hours Thursday before finding John Cunningham, 44 of Jennings guilty of voluntary manslaughter and armed criminal action in the death of his uncle, 44 year old Lessie Lowe.

Formal sentencing for Cunningham is scheduled for December 20, 2013.

Cunningham was convicted on a lesser charge in the death of Lowe. Originally, he was charged with first degree murder.

Authorities say an argument over pork steaks led Cunningham to retrieve a gun and shoot Lowe in the chest on September 10, 2012. Cunningham then fled from Lowe's home but was arrested a short time later by police.
