ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. — New charges have been filed in the deadly shooting of a teenager in St. Louis County in 2022, and charges were dropped against a man previously charged with the murder.

Rodney Holt III, 20, was charged Thursday with first-degree murder and armed criminal action in connection with the deadly shooting of 19-year-old Armaun Jackson on Jan. 17, 2022.

Police said they were called to the 7300 block of Ridgehaven Lane in the Northwood Court Apartment complex for a report of a shooting at around 2:15 p.m. When they arrived, officers found Jackson inside a car. He had been shot multiple times and was pronounced dead at the scene of the shooting.

According to a probable cause statement, Jackson was texting with Holt and a woman to meet at the apartment complex where the shooting occurred.

Jackson arrived at the complex a few minutes later, and police said witnesses saw a person walk up to Jackson's car and shoot him multiple times.

The probable cause statement said Holt was found months later in possession of the gun used in the deadly shooting.

A press release from the St. Louis County Police Department said the woman who was texting with Jackson initially to set up the meeting was charged with hindering prosecution in connection with the case.

Holt is being held on a $500,000, cash-only bond.

Police initially arrested another man. A press release from the police department said two witnesses told officers this man was the only other person in the area where the shooting occurred. Police took him into custody a few hours later in the same apartment complex where the shooting happened. Charges against this man were dropped.
