ST. LOUIS — One person was killed early Tuesday morning in a shooting at a north St. Louis gas station.
According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, officers responded at about 1:40 a.m. Tuesday to the shooting at VP Racing Fuels, located at the intersection of Riverview Drive and North Broadway in the Baden neighborhood. There, they found a male victim in his late teens or a young adult on the ground with gunshot wounds.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
The Homicide Division assumed the ongoing investigation.
Preliminary investigation suggested the victim was with a group of people when they exchanged gunfire with the people inside another vehicle, police. It wasn't clear yet what led up to the incident.
At the scene, a 5 On Your Side photographer saw police focusing their investigation on a vehicle near the gas pumps with a shattered back window.

The Bullet Related Injury Clinic (BRIC) is a community-based clinic in St. Louis that helps people heal after they have been injured by a bullet. The BRIC was established to help people who are discharged from the emergency department after being shot.
