Man found fatally shot inside SUV in north St. Louis

ST. LOUIS — A man was fatally shot Sunday afternoon in north St. Louis.

According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, officers responded at about 2:20 p.m. Sunday to a shooting in the 3600 block of Hamilton Avenue. There, they found 38-year-old Lamare McGee of Hillsdale shot multiple times inside of an SUV.

Police said McGee was pronounced dead at the scene.

Witnesses told officers that a man in his 40s was seen running away from the SUV.

The Homicide Division assumed the ongoing investigation.

The Bullet Related Injury Clinic (BRIC) is a community-based clinic in St. Louis that helps people heal after they have been injured by a bullet. The BRIC was established to help people who are discharged from the emergency department after being shot.
