15-year-old shot multiple times Thursday in drive-by shooting in north St. Louis

Police said the victim suffered multiple gunshot wounds to his legs.

ST. LOUIS — A 15-year-old boy was hospitalized after being shot multiple times Thursday evening in north St. Louis.

According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, the shooting happened at about 5:30 p.m. Thursday in the 5000 block of Thekla Avenue, just blocks from Bellefontaine Cemetery in the city's Mark Twain neighborhood.

Police said the victim was near an alley when he saw a car drive eastbound down an alley. The car's rear driver-side window rolled down, and the victim heard six shots. He felt pain in his legs and fell to the ground.

A responding officer applied tourniquets to each of the victim's legs, and he was taken to an area hospital via ambulance. His vital signs were listed as "stable" Friday morning.

The investigation is ongoing, and the suspect remains unknown.
