'Outrageous, unthinkable': St. Louis mayor reacts to drive-by shooting that left toddler dead

Mayor Krewson said no dispute or retaliation is worth this kind of violence.

ST. LOUIS — St. Louis Mayor Lyda Krewson said she is “outraged and just sick” over two of the most recent shooting victims in the city: a 3-year-old girl who died and a 6-year-old girl who was injured.

Three-year-old Kennedi Powell was killed Sunday night while playing outside. Family members said the shooting happened at 8:30 p.m. in the 4600 of Michigan Avenue. Kennedi was playing with other children when the gunfire started.

The drive-by shooting left 6-year-old Oriel Finley injured.

“They shot me in my back,” Oriel said. “It hurted.”
