ST. LOUIS — A pedestrian was fatally struck Tuesday in a hit-and-run in south St. Louis.
Officers with the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department responded shortly after 5 p.m. to the crash on the 4400 block of Chippewa Street, near the border of the Bevo Mill and Tower Grove South neighborhoods. The man was trying to cross the street when he was struck by a 2018 Nissan Altima that then fled the scene, police said.
Police confirmed Tuesday night that the man died of his injuries.
On Wednesday, police identified the pedestrian as 63-year-old Floyd Lucas, of St. Louis.
The police department's Accident Reconsctruction Unit is handling an investigation along with District 2 officers.
