Police are searching for a man who robbed south St. Louis bank Thursday

He is 6 foot tall, thin-built, and wearing black shorts with white designs, a white t-shirt, black sunglasses, a crossbody bag, white socks, and a bucket hat.

ST. LOUIS — The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department is searching for a suspect in a bank robbery that happened in the Carondelet neighborhood 

Officers responded to a call around 3:30 p.m. Thursday about a bank robbery at the Great Southern Bank located at 940 Loughborough Ave.

Police said the suspect entered the bank and inquired about opening an account. While the teller was helping him he gave the teller a note demanding money. The man took the money and fled on foot, police said.

He is described as six-foot tall, thin-built, and wearing black shorts with white designs, a white t-shirt, black sunglasses, a crossbody bag, white socks, black and white tennis shoes and a black bucket hat, police said.

No physical injuries were reported.

According to the SLMPD crime report, so far the amount of robberies city-wide is worse this year than it was in 2023.

The Bullet Related Injury Clinic (BRIC) is a community-based clinic in St. Louis that helps people heal after they have been injured by a bullet. The BRIC was established to help people who are discharged home from the emergency department after being shot.
