Police search for suspect after pursuit, crash in STL County

One suspect was captured by police and arrested, but the other suspect is still at large.

ST. LOUIS COUNTY – Police are searching for a man suspected to be involved in several carjackings after a police pursuit ended with a crash that sent one woman to the hospital late Tuesday night.

According to Benjamin Granda, a spokesperson for the St. Louis County Police Department, officers spotted a black 2013 Lexus just before 11 p.m. near the Halls Ferry Circle that was recently carjacked from Clayton and attempted to pull the vehicle over.

The suspects inside the vehicle fled and officers pursued the vehicle through north St. Louis for about 10 minutes to the intersection of Warne Avenue and Penrose Street, near Fairgrounds Park, where the Lexus collided with two other vehicles, injuring a woman inside.

Police say two suspects exited the Lexus and fled the scene on foot. A 28-year-old man was arrested after a brief pursuit. The second suspect is still at large and described as a black male between 18 and 20 years old, and has a noticeable limp.

Two firearms were recovered at the scene.

St. Louis County Police said another carjacking in north St. Louis County may have been related to this case. A 53-year-old woman was carjacked on the 2600 block of Daman Court at around 7:35 Monday night.

Three people in a Lexus drove up to the woman, who was driving a 2011 Lincoln MKS sedan. Two of the people got out of the Lexus and took her car and property at gunpoint. Police said the Lexus had been stolen the previous night.

County police said the victim's car, which had a sticker that said "Clergy" on its Missouri license plate, has not been recovered.
