ST. LOUIS — Three people were arrested Thursday evening after a police pursuit following an armed robbery in St. Charles ended with a crash in south St. Louis.

According to Lt. Tom Wilkison with the St. Charles Police Department, a pair entered a Phillips 66 gas station on the 2200 block of North 3rd Street shortly after 8 p.m. One of them tried to steal a six-pack of beer, and when the clerk confronted them, one of them pulled a gun.

The pair then sped away in a Dodge Charger.

St. Louis County Police Department said it was notified that the vehicle was wanted in an armed robbery. Officers spotted the Charger near the intersection of St. Charles Rock Road and Ferguson Avenue and tried to pull it over.

The Charger kept driving and officers initiated a pursuit, which traveled through north St. Louis County and into St. Louis.

The pursuit ended shortly before 9 p.m., when the Charger crashed into a St. Louis County police vehicle at Hampton Road and Chippewa Avenue on the city's south side.

Three people inside the vehicle were taken into custody.

Police said there were no injuries caused by the crash.
