Resident shoots burglar in St. Louis city home

The suspect has been arrested and taken to a local hospital for bullet-related injuries.

ST. LOUIS — Police arrested a man who they say broke into a St. Louis home early Sunday morning. 

The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department sent officers in District 4 to a burglar shot by a resident in the 4000 block of Peck Street around 5 a.m.

Police said that the 30-year-old resident shot at the 21-year-old man who broke into his home. 

The suspect then ran out the home's back door, police said. 

Police found the suspect on the 4200 block of Blair Avenue with a bullet-related injury. He was arrested and taken to a local hospital by EMS. 

This is an ongoing investigation.

The Bullet Related Injury Clinic (BRIC) is a community-based clinic in St. Louis that helps people heal after they have been injured by a bullet. The BRIC was established to help people who are discharged home from the emergency department after being shot.
