ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. — A south St. Louis County man is accused of a road rage incident where he ran a car off the interstate.

Stanley Fields of Crystal City was charged Saturday with 1st degree assault and armed criminal action.

Sunset Hills police said the situation happened Oct. 11 on Highway 30, east of I-270. Highway 30 is also known as Gravois Road.

Police said outside of a Sunset Hills venue, a minor vehicle crash happened involving Fiends and the victim. The two pulled over, but Fields' conduct made the victim feel unsafe, so the victim attempted to drive away.

Police said the victim got off on Highway 30, eastbound ramp from I-270 north. The victim was rear ended by Fields again.

Officers said the victim merged onto Highway 30 eastbound and was rear-ended twice.

Finally, police said Fields drove onto the median on the victim's driver-side and then drove the victim off the road in a "PIT maneuver." A PIT maneuver is a Precision Immobilization Technique that law enforcement uses in vehicle pursuits to turn another vehicle abruptly.

Police said both exited their vehicles again before Fields took his shirt off and began chasing the victim around while shouting racial slurs.

When an officer arrived, Fields was wearing a shirt and standing by his car. Police said a witness on scene described one of the collisions, the "PIT maneuver," and the foot chase around the car.

Fields was held on a $500,000 cash only bond. A bond reduction hearing is set for Oct. 22, and a preliminary hearing is set for Nov. 13.
