ST. LOUIS — A suspect was arrested after two men were robbed by a man with a machete Sunday afternoon near the Central West End, police said.
The St. Louis Police Department said the incident happened just before 3 p.m. The department said two 21-year-old men were on the train with a man approached them with a machete.
The man demanded the victims hand over their property, so they gave him a phone, iPad and computer. The victims were not injured in the incident.
Police were able to track the phone to the 100 block of Newstead Avenue. With the help of the Washington University Police Department, the suspect was taken into custody.
On Monday afternoon, the police department identified the suspect as 39-year-old Christopher Crockett. He was charged with two counts of first-degree robbery and two counts of armed criminal action.
