Man has car stolen after he tried to stop another man from breaking into Schnucks

A 23-year-old man said he went to the store and saw a man using a crowbar to try to break into the store.

ST. LOUIS — Police are investigating after a man had his car stolen by another man who was trying to break into Schnucks early Saturday morning.

Officers responded to Schnucks at 4171 Lindell around 1:10 a.m. A 23-year-old man said he went to the store and saw a man using a crowbar to try to break into the store – that’s when he approached him and tried to take the crowbar.

After the man tried to take the crowbar, the two started arguing.

During the struggle, the victim’s car keys fell out of his pocket. The robber took his keys and left the scene in the victim’s car. A short time later, police found the victim’s car in the 3800 block of N. Market.

The victim declined medical attention, according to the police report.
