WENTZVILLE, Mo. — A woman was killed in a domestic incident in Wentzville, police said early Thursday morning.
According to the Wentzville Police Department, officers responded to a shooting at a home in the 100 block of Katie Lynn Court to find a female victim who had been fatally shot during a domestic incident.
According to the department, a male suspect was taken into custody, and two juveniles at the scene were safe and taken into police care.
A neighbor told 5 On Your Side they were woken up at about 1 a.m. by the sound of a gunshot and found a bullet had come through their living room wall. Luckily, no one in the home was injured.
Police said officers were still investigating the scene as of about 3:40 a.m. Thursday. They said they didn't believe any other suspects were involved.
Court documents show that Darryl K. Tyson has since been charged with second-degree domestic assault, accused of throwing a phone at the victim and injuring her. Multiple sources familiar with the investigation said prosecutors are expected to file additional charges at a later date.
Prosecutors filed a bond request outlining reasons a judge should issue a high bond amount for Tyson. In the request, prosecutors said he "engaged in a pattern of abuse of the victim" and "shot the victim in a reckless manner while his children were present in the home," adding "one bullet penetrated the home next door."
Anyone with information was asked to contact Wentzville police at 636-327-5105.
