Man dead after shooting at Fairground Park

ST. LOUIS — A man died after being shot Wednesday night in north St. Louis.

According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, officers responded shortly at about 9:40 p.m. Wednesday to a shooting inside Fairground Park. There, they found 22-year-old Montez Washington of St. Louis suffering a bullet-related injury.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The Homicide Division assumed the ongoing investigation.

As of Thursday morning, police had not shared the victim's identity, what led up to the shooting or whether any arrests had been made.

The Bullet Related Injury Clinic (BRIC) is a community-based clinic in St. Louis that helps people heal after they have been injured by a bullet. The BRIC was established to help people who are discharged from the emergency department after being shot.
