ST. LOUIS — A man was fatally shot and two others were injured Tuesday in two separate shootings along Marcus Avenue in north St. Louis, police said.
The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department said officers responded shortly before 4 p.m. to the first shooting on the 1900 block of Marcus Avenue in the city's Kingsway East neighborhood.
Responding officers located a 26-year-old man with apparent gunshot wounds. The man was not conscious but breathing when he was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.
A second victim, a 23-year-old man, arrived at a local hospital with multiple gunshot wounds to the arm, police said. Police described his vital signs as stable.
About five hours later in the nearby Greater Ville neighborhood, a man was found near the intersection of Marcus and Labadie avenues with a gunshot wound to the head. The man, believed to be around 20 years old, was pronounced dead shortly after 9 p.m.
It was unclear late Tuesday night if the two scenes were related. Homicide investigations were underway in both incidents.
The deaths marked the 79th and 80th homicides in St. Louis in 2023, according to 5 On Your Side data.
