ST. LOUIS — A shooting near Fairground Park in north St. Louis left one person dead early Wednesday morning.
According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, officers responded just before 1 a.m. Wednesday to a shooting at Barrett Street and Grand Boulevard. There, they found the victim laying in an alley in the 3800 block of Grand with gunshot wounds to his legs.
Police said the victim was taken to area hospital, where he later died due to his injuries.
The Homicide Division assumed the ongoing investigation.

According to 5 On Your Side data, this was the city's 53rd homicide so far this year.
As of Wednesday morning, police had not shared the victim's identity, what led up to the shooting or whether there were any arrests made.
