Double-shooting in north St. Louis leaves 1 dead Sunday

The shooting happened at about 5:45 p.m. near the intersection of Vandeventer and Garfield avenues.

ST. LOUIS — A double-shooting Sunday evening in north St. Louis left one man dead.

According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, officers responded at about 5:45 p.m. Sunday to a shooting near the intersection of Vandeventer and Garfield avenues, not far from Rumbold Park. One man was pronounced dead, and another was taken to the hospital.

The Homicide Division assumed the ongoing investigation, police said.

As of Monday morning, police had not yet identified the deceased victim.

The Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis has the Neighborhood Healing Network, which serves people who have experienced crime, violence or been the victim of an incident that caused trauma.

The Bullet Related Injury Clinic (BRIC) is a community-based clinic in St. Louis that helps people heal after they have been injured by a bullet. The BRIC was established to help people who are discharged from the emergency department after being shot.
