Man shot, killed Saturday afternoon in St. Louis

Police said the victim was found near a sidewalk with a gunshot wound to his stomach.

ST. LOUIS — A victim was shot several times and killed Saturday afternoon in north St. Louis.

According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, the shooting happened shortly before 2 p.m. Saturday in the 5500 block of Page Avenue. There, officers found the victim, identified as 27-year-old Michael Rice, near a sidewalk with a gunshot wound to his stomach. He was unconscious and not breathing.

Police said he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Homicide Division assumed the ongoing investigation.
