ST. LOUIS — A man died after being shot early Monday morning in south St. Louis.
According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, the shooting happened at about 3:45 a.m. Monday in a backyard in the 3100 block of Pennsylvania Avenue, located in the city's Benton Park West neighborhood.
Police said the victim was found shot in the chest and pronounced dead at the scene.
The Homicide Division assumed the ongoing investigation.
As of Monday morning, police had not shared the victim's identity, what led up to the shooting or whether there were any arrests made.

The Bullet Related Injury Clinic (BRIC) is a community-based clinic in St. Louis that helps people heal after they have been injured by a bullet. The BRIC was established to help people who are discharged from the emergency department after being shot.
