1 dead, 1 injured Saturday in north St. Louis shooting

ST. LOUIS — A shooting in north St. Louis left one man dead and another injured Saturday night.

According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, officers responded at about 6:15 p.m. Saturday to the 2400 block of Union Boulevard. There, they found the scene of a shooting and learned that the victims had left on their own to go to a hospital.

One of the victims, a 39-year-old man who had been shot in the leg, tried to drive himself to the hospital but crashed into a building in the 1500 block of Union Boulevard. He was pronounced dead after being taken to a local hospital via EMS, police said.

The other victim, a 33-year-old man who had been shot in the buttocks, was taken privately to an area hospital and was listed as "stable."

The Homicide Division assumed the ongoing investigation.

As of Monday morning, police had not yet shared the identity of the deceased victim, what led up to the shooting or whether any arrests had been made.

The Bullet Related Injury Clinic (BRIC) is a community-based clinic in St. Louis that helps people heal after they have been injured by a bullet. The BRIC was established to help people who are discharged from the emergency department after being shot.
