Several south St. Louis businesses broken into over the weekend

St. Louis police have not released any information regarding suspects or if the break-ins were related.

ST. LOUIS — Four businesses in St. Louis' Lindenwood Park and The Hill neighborhoods were broken into over the weekend.

According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, officers responded to four businesses in south St. Louis that were broken into between Friday afternoon and early Tuesday morning.

St. Louis police have not released any information regarding suspects or if the break-ins were related. The investigations remain ongoing.

Police said between 3 p.m. Friday and 5:30 a.m. Saturday, a rock was thrown into the front entrance door to gain entry into Pint Size Bakery & Coffee, located at 3133 Watson Road.

A cash register was found damaged, but no money was taken.

Between 9:30 p.m. Friday and 6:15 a.m. Saturday, a rock was thrown through a window to gain entry into Crazy Bowls & Wraps at 2724 Watson Road. Police said nothing was reported missing from the restaurant.

Around 4:40 a.m. Saturday, the front door at The Missouri Baking Company at 2027 Edwards St. was shattered. No one entered the business, police said.

According to police, shortly before 1:30 a.m. Tuesday, a rock was thrown into the side entrance at Series Six Company. Money was stolen from the cash register and an iPad was reported missing. Police did not say how much money was taken.

"We're working with a local company to repair that door. We had a lot of the proper security measures in place. So that allowed the police to be able to respond as quickly as they did," Series Six Company Owner Sami Baldridge said.

The new location at 3719 Watson Road in Lindenwood Park opened its doors on Jan. 6.

Baldridge said their first full week in the new location on Watson was a blast with lots of community support.

“For a lot of people, it’s a slow time for retail. But for us, we're right at the beginning of Mardi Gras and launching that collection. And then we have Saint Patrick's Day right after that. So a lot of new and exciting things going on at Series Six right now,” Baldridge said.

But Baldridge said she's choosing to focus on the good in the neighborhood.

"This is just a minor setback, and we're going to get through it and be here for many years to come," Baldridge said.

One of the aldermen for the area, Joe Vollmer, said the businesses are already doing what they can but one thing that would help is increased police presence.

"We're close to 300 officers short on the force. And while there's modern technology to help with that, there's nothing that replaces the fact of seeing a cop drive by. I do anything I can to keep the cops in this neighborhood as much as we can, but they are needed everywhere," Vollmer said.
